  • Fender Twin Wierd noise from mid e.q.

Everything sounds fine on my twin reverb at half e.q. levels... but if i turn the mid e.q. knob all the way up, it makes a humming noise. it starts after the knob goes past about 7. does this sound like anything in particular that i need to replace?

I was playing with the settings, and I think its more than just the mid control. with different values on the other two tone pots it goes away or comes back, in a pretty random fashion. could it be the filter caps? I think that they are probably old ones that need replaced, but don't know if this is a sign of that

try checking how tight the controls are against the panel.

Have you checked for DC on those pots? One of the 3 tone caps may be leaking.

Is this hum like the hum you get when you touch the tip of a guitar cord with your fingers? or is it more like a WOOOO sound? I am asking if the amp is feeding back in some way, which is not the same as what we call hum.
