Also blew my main fuse in my Peavey Classic 50/50

I just bought my Peavey classic 50/50 off of Ebay and did a complete retube with JJ's. thought Id test it out using my line 6 Pod XT, and after about 30 minutes blew the main fuse. is it possiable that I had the Pod turned up to much causing an over load to the amp? or is there another issue?

New power tubes are most likely to fail early! You have a bad tube in the bunch that needs replacement from your vendor. jj maybe? It is common!

I just found that I blew a tube in the exact place there was a blown tube when I recived the amp. the guy claims he did not have any problems with the amp and never replaced any tubes. I find that very hard to believe since i recieved it with a blown tube.

If the same socket is blowing tubes, you might want to check the screen resistor of that socket.
A tube can take out the resistor (open) when it fails.

Yeah, But if the screen resistor is open then the tube won't pass any current. How can a tube fail and take the fuse with it if it's not passing current?

There is something wrong with that socket though. Perhaps a carbon track is burned into it from a previous failure. The socket pins could be dirty, loose or have a cold solder joint and the tube in that socket is losing bias voltage at the grid pin. This is the kind of thing to look for. Something is making the tube in that socket draw excessive current.
