    in fact the resistance of OT it is about 100 ohms - I mean it is not small at all and the voltage is about 3v

    so this 'resistor' and a voltmeter across it form an effective ammeter to measure the current without affecting anything

    point being isn't this by miles better than disrupting the circuit ?

      Well, the resistance is going to be different for each leg as well as for each OT you may come across. But as to your question, I really haven't considered it, so haven't tried it. However, disrupting the current is not a big deal.
