Vox VT 50

no schematic so far.
speaker makes mild hiss.. seems normal.
power light comes on but no other lights on the panel.
so factory reset impossible.

about all I could do was check for continuity from the jack to the board it's on.. it all seems ok there. I get cont. and res. appropriate.

I pulled the control panel pcb off and the big pcb.. nothing scorched, nothing hanging out.. etc.

I cleaned lubed the pots... cleaned switches.. cleaned the boards.
and stared at it a while.

check the larger PCB components - resistors and capacitors - for possible broken leads. give em a gentle push and see if anything is amiss.

If the only light that is coming on is the power, than you have a display board problem.
It is a modeling amp.
Meaning there is a microcontroller in there that lights the lights.
And processes the signal, & does the modeling &....
If the micro is not coming up, the amp is dead in the water.
(Isn't the latest & greatest of new technologies just wonderful.)

Try to find the board & look for any voltage regulators.
There may be a 5 volt & a 3.3 volt.
They must be working.
