    It looks like a diode. It's located on the cathode of the output tubes in parallel with the 1 ohm resistor for measuring bias voltage.

    I think it helps prevent a 'meltdown' if the one ohmer fails.

          It was originally 1N5062 as on the schematics, but the more recent versions just use a 1N4006. A 1N4007 would be fine as well. I see no reason to order some special part if you have 1N4007 already. It is just a 1A diode.

          What is wrong with yours? It will measure shorted while in circuit of course, due to the 1 ohm resistor.
          Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.

            I had clippedd it out for trouble shooting & wondered if it was important & what should I replace it with? I couldn't find a parts list to see what they called for......

              Well, whichever version schematic you have, with either type diode, the diode type is printed on the schematic next to the part.
