I have an Ampeg B5R on the bench. The notes ring out but seem to decay too quickly. Also it doesnt seem as loud as it should be. I took a look inside and the fan isnt on. I applied 24 volts to it from a different power supply and the fan does work. I could really use a schematic. I have searched the net and this site and every time I click on a link, I get a 404 or a blank page. HELP!!! Pretty please??!! Lol!!! Thanks for looking.

At power on, the fan should 'try' to spin.
Then it will turn on when the heatsink gets hot, from operating the amplifier.
Not too sure what 'decay too quickly' would imply.Comment

How does the bias look? Set too low you could be experiencing notes that 'decay too quickly'.Comment

As far as I know, the B4a and B5a differ only in their preamps. Same power amp in both.Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.Comment
