I had ~350 mVAC ripple on the preamp 15V rails and around 90 mVAC on the 52V rails. Took a very close look underneath C31, and C32 and noticed some bulging on both caps. I went ahead and installed some fresh 5000/63's there and a pair of 1000/35's at C36 and C37.

She's quiet and purring like a kitten. After running it for awhile on the dummy load everything checks out fine. I've been playing some lonesome blues with my Frankencaster for the last hour or so and this thing sounds awful good.
A little tip: Whenever I'm typing a longer post, BEFORE I hit the button to submit the post, I select and copy the text. That way, if something crashes or the post doesn't get submitted due to some kind of web glitch, I can go back to the reply box and just paste the text into the box without having to re-type the whole thing.

Thanks Dude. I know to copy text in the longer posts when things slow down like that, but both the website and [apparently] my PC froze up at the same time and left me temporarily brain dead. I did copy the text as a contingency, but lost it when I restarted my computer without thinking.

I was just gonna tell Enzo that my post #13 wasn't actually confused. I had stated that I could get rid of most of the hum by twisting the GAIN knobs, but could eliminate it entirely by turning down both GAINS and turning off the REVERB. My first post was a bit more eloquent than this rendition, but I'm only on my second cup of coffee at this juncture. Anyhoo, the amp is fixed and sounds really nice now and is on its way to a string of dates along the icy eastern seaboard.

My goal is to eventually start a thread and not get chewed out by Enzo or corrected by g-one when I say dumb stuff!

Yeah, but it's done with love and respect.

Oh yeah, I know that and I enjoy getting barked at from time to time. I mean, where else can I go and be able to draw from half a millennium's worth of experience?

          Again, thanks to everyone!

You think THIS is "chewed out"? Hah! I save my chewouts for SGM, and even then I hold back.

Civility is overrated when it comes to some.
