I think the cap has to rated for AC voltage....not DC voltage....I think they are called X capacitors....

There should be a sticky about this on the forum. Like the dreaded switching jack one... The dreaded pop when amp is turned off... <<<sticky

I for one would make sure the trouble first is not the power switch arching. Still if all the info was in one main thread that would be a great way to help people with this issue. Well that's my 2 cents, and 5 cents if your in Canada.
