    So with the the transformer completely out of the unit and and on the bench, it draws excessive current with all of the secondaries floating and isolated with an ac cord clipped to the primary? If that "LV" winding us bad, I would certainly check the circuitry on that supply before spending any money on a new custom PT. What does this "LV" winding connect to?

      It supplies +&- 22V for the solid state part of the amp. And, yes, I definitely agree the rest of that supply should be checked before installing a new or rewound transformer- particularly the diodes as I mentioned in post #10, but also check for shorted output transistors, etc.
