  • HI new to the group.

Does anyone have a good contact number for Bugera. I bought a new (old) 6262-212. It is new out of the box, but I don't know how long ago it was made. It worked the initial time I tried it. The next time, I applied power, waited a minute, switched standby to play, then in about 10 seconds a volume swell of noise and both power and standby indicators extinguished. Check fuse at back of amp and it was blown, put in a new one, and the problem repeated. There is always more to a story, right? I am on facebook, and musicians friend ads the amp at 89.99. So I bought two! The same thing happened with the other one. Please hold your laughter. Only there was no sound swell before 'popping' the fuse. So... I am still under warranty, but I am itching to know if someone has gone over one of these and got it to a reliable, onstage amp. Any technical thought would be helpful. I did find a rev F schematic. After looking at for a half an hour, I can't find anything resembling a power switch.

Ok so a Bugera rep has gotten back to me via email. Their email care@music-group.com.
It has been 37yrs since I was in tech school, but tubes are tubes.

Ok, start by posting that schematic here.

What did the Bugera rep tell you about your problem?

For all of $89 I'd buy a dozen, then go through them and repair what's bad.

But ... I'm a Tech and have a Lab, not sure it would be practical for a regular Musician.

I'll have to find the PDF, it is on this site too. I printed out the one I found thinking I saved it too, but didn't. It is the same one, REV F.

Bugera and I are emailing back and forth. Basically I guess I will be sending back for repairs. Working out logistics of the when, how where, how long, etc.

That is the logic for why I bought two. LOL Shipping was free too, and they showed up together at my door in three days.

I have a piece of paper that says I am a tech, it is about 37 yrs old. Other than CRTs I never really got involved much with tubes post tech school. My lab: foldable table and Multimeter.

Is the mains switch set to your local AC voltage? That may be the issue.

The manufacturer makes the warranty, but when you buy a product, your beef is with the retailer. Just as when you buy a car, if there is a problem you take the car back to the dealer, you don't call General Motors.

I used to be a Behringer/Bugera warranty shop, along with many other brands, and I never found any special efforts were needed to make the amps work. Early production has an underspecified connector that failed, so they changed to direct wires in production and had us make the change in the units in the field. There is also a small board where the AC power comes in, and there are a number of thermistors in series there, and some were not taking solder well. I resolder those and the units never have that trouble again.
