  • Maestro GA-1RT-1 Tremolo

Does anybody have any ideas on the tremolo bleeding through when it is turned off. It's controlled by a 500k pot that's an on/off and speed control. I bought this amp as my first project and the thing was a mess. I pretty much have everything straightened out but this is killing me and it has to be something simple that I'm overlooking.

So, when you turn the trem knob all the way down and click it into the OFF position, do the switch contacts on that control actually open? For that matter, has someone wired across the switch at some point because it would never go ON? Opening that switch should kill the trem instantly.

Thank you...I have tested the switch and it is closed at the off position. The tremolo works and the speed control works, just in the off position the tremolo is still oscillating at a very slow rate.

Well there you go, the switch has to open for the trem to stop. You need a new switch or somehow fix the old one.

Thank you very much Enzo.. I was overlooking a connection that the previous owner or somebody made. I changed the connection and when I opened the switch, it killed the tremolo. Then I completely removed the connection and it works perfectly.
