      The VTM's and Butcher were basically JCM800 2204's and 2203's, of course they sound great!
      but you knew that.

      A lot of people still prefer old Peavey's, as they are indestructible like Enzo said.
      I get many old Peavey's in, most are easy repairs

      Hell, I got a giant 1200 mixer amp in this week.

        I’ve seen the schematic, and they are nearly identical up through the first few stages. Interestingly, we’ve had numerous 800’s come through here, and I think they sound quite different. I don’t really care for JCM800’s. I suspect that the additional cathode follower in the VTM (IIRC) makes a noticeable difference in the preamp compression that I prefer.
