  • Rewind Output Transformer?

looks like i killed my OT from a 70's Fender Bassman 100 head. I'm looking into rewinding it myself. anybody try this before? any advice?

Due to high voltage I don't consider is a good ideea for a project. Condition of isolation around 2kv are compulsory,

Be sure you actually killed it before doing anything to it.

While it really sucks when one of the most expensive components in an amp needs to be replaced, there's no way that doing a DIY is worth the $100 a new one would cost. Maybe you can get a pull from someone else for cheaper, but I've gotten bad OTs that way and ended up spending more in the long run.

To rewind an output or mains transformer, one needs to be able to dismantle the mechanics; E&I plates, that are usually varnished.
Accurately measure the guage of wire used and have lots of patience to count the turns and rewind with fresh wire and insulation material. Then when reassembled, re pot the transformer with fresh varnish.
If the wire tension is too loose or not wound close enough, the transformer laminations will not fit.
Finally test to specification and Hipot flash test at a minimum of 5kv. I have access to one of these; https://telonic.co.uk/product/kikusu...sistance-test/
                Not for the feint hearted!

That is why the manufacturers can charge what they like for transformers.
Support for Fender, Laney, Marshall, Mesa, VOX and many more. https://jonsnell.co.uk
If you can't fix it, I probably can.
