  • Hot Rod Deville - stuck in more drive

I had to change the jack for input 1. I decided to put in 2 switchcrafts and since there was no rush, I changed filter caps, cr13, cr14, r78, r79, r57, r58, r61 and r62. My problem is the amp is stuck in more drive when no footswitch is plugged in. It works normally with the footswitch plugged in. Voltages measure correct at r97, r78, r79, cr13 and cr14. What else do I check?

Tip to ground working on the foot switch socket?

If you can't fix it, I probably can.

I'll have to check that Thursday. My boss said the same thing. I guess I'm too focused on changing resistors etc, and miss the simpler things. In this particular Deville it was really difficult to get the pots past the lip of the chassis and I bet I jammed the jack.

The amp was going out that night so I just changed the jack. That did it. Thanks again. I need to figure out which of the pins was tip.
