  • Peavey powered speakers converted to passive

Have a guy who has some peavey powered speakers with blown amps. What crossover would one buy to make this speaker passive?
I see a lot on Parts Express but no clue which one to get.

    Thanks,

Which speaker cab do you have? If two way, maybe tell us the woofer and compression driver.

I have used the Parts Express Dayton crossovers - they work well. You can use them for both 4 and 8 ohm setups. I have also used the Eminence crossovers.

Standing by to hear back ...
It's not just an amp, it's an adventure!

Yep. Need more info. I'd look at the speaker literature and try to find a crossover that closely matches the design crossover frequency and power specs. That said, you may not even need a crossover. Some powered speakers use a single amp and a passive crossover.

Looks like specs are 2.1K crossover point and 230W continuous. I would think something like this would work.

There are probably lots of others if a guy wanted to do some web searching.

            Good option Dude....

The Peavey RX14 compression driver specs are here: https://peavey.com/product/rx14-driver/

            Looks like a 2Khz crossover.

Perhaps you can use the Eminence PXB2:2K5CX 2-Way Speaker Crossover Board 2,500 Hz

or maybe the Dayton Audio XO2W-2K 2-Way Speaker Crossover 2,000 Hz
