Hi There,
Just throwing this out here in case anyone has any wisdom they can share.
About three months ago I fitted a Mercury Magnetics output transformer to my Marshall DSL50.
To say I was impressed with the upgrade would be an understatement.
So I then decided to go the whole nine yards and get the Power Tranny and choke as well.
Straight after fitting these two items, the tone is simply incredible.
However, I feel as though I have definitely lost some volume.
Its like the amp is now running at 25 or 30 watts and reaches its limit too early.
-
I have measured the voltage at pin 3 of the power tube sockets and get a solid 483v on each socket.
Ive also biased down to 35ma.
Admittedly, prior to the PT and Choke change I did have the bias set too high so I am going to try with a new set of tubes but in the mean time I'm asking if anyone can suggest any other reason why this issue may have occurred.
Many Thanks
