Thanks for a knowledgeable and in-depth treatment of a large and diverse field. I haven't had time to really "dig" in but am liking immensely what I've managed to read.

      Valve Wizard Site

I've visited Merlin's site (The Valve Wizard) and found it to be very informative (even though he does call them valves...).

I have also recently published a book on the subject ("Design and Construction of Tube Guitar Amplifiers") which I will describe in a separate thread.

        Merlin -

Would you be interested in trading copies?

You might consider having AES sell the book, and their wholesale wing CEDist. They sell the O'Connor books, and lots of others.

(Loss leader for me, but it seems to be reviving interest via Lulu too, so swings and roundabouts...)

I couldn't resist and ordered the book, after looking at some of the material on your website. Being a EE myself, I really like the more in-depth information.

Most other tube amp books/sites leave me begging for more

For reference, I am myself an analog IC designer - kind of ironical that I am getting into tube amps - I play guitar - so it is natural! I guess I am finding myself working with both extremes of the electronic world, but actually, designing with tubes is very much like IC design, because it is all about working with the actual DEVICES themselves, where the real analog design is (IMHO )

Good luck....I ordered the book from Lulu on April 10th, they took my money, then promptly did NOTHING! I complained and they told me to cancel the order and re-order. Why they can't just print it and send it now is beyond me....their customer service is atrocious...but this looks like a really, really good book....

                      Hi Rafael

It is a really cool book. Why don't you give Merlin a PM? He's good about sorting stuff like that.

I went ahead and did that myself....it cost a few dollars more than directly from Lulu but I don't have to wait for them to print it, and the order went through and was shipped right away. Can't wait for the delivery!

                              broke lol

I read your first chapter probably six times trying to extract all I could out of it. I really enjoy your teaching style, and I will be ordering your book as soon as I can scrape up enough change to do it. I sure do hope the rest of the book is as informative.

                              great work man
