Output Power

Hi,all
I'm currently in the process of building a clone of a Vox AC-30.
While I was buying the output transformers i thought it would be smart if i bought the fender bassman output tranny, which is rated at 2ohm 50watt.

But now what would be the output of the ac-30... would it still be 30watt or will it be 50 watts...
or should i just buy the proper output transformer..

It'll be 30W with a bigger OT.

If you're going to run a 2ohm speaker load, then maybe the Bassman OT would do the trick, if you're going to run the stock speaker configuration then use the original style OT.

A transformer is just a conduit for power, it doesn;t make power. The purpose of the output transformer is to TRANSFORM the 30 watts of high voltage, low current power at your output tubes into 30 watts of low voltage high current power for the speaker.

You COULD wind a 1500 ohm speaker and connect it directly to the tubes, no transformer, but there are many reasons not to do it that way.

SO whatever power your tubes deliver is what the transformer passes along. All it does is change the form of it.
