maybe that 1.5A is correct, look at the DCR for the red-red wind, pretty low,

for CT operation the VA goes down to 165 VAC x 1.5 A = 247.5 since current only flows 50% of the time from either Red to CT, then divide that in half for a reasonable 123 VA. that would mean a thicker than sq stack so i bet it is 1 3/4"

    do not try to get 1.5 A in Bridge Rect form or you will have a fire. the Fender can drag 300ma and be at 99 VA, the rest for the heaters, which will probably run .9 x 2 = 1.8 + preamp tubes, .3 x 4 = 1.2 so 3 amps x 6.3 =18.9 so 99 + 19 = 118 VA.

1.5A is probably right for a Super Twin, or a similar 6 x 6L6/EL34 best, or some large Traynor or Sunn Bass amp, not enough for an SVT though (it would need much higher voltge rating to begin with).

Mayb Zinky knew he more or less had a free open account with the only condition of producing mind boggling results and he splurged on the very best, way oversized PT.

In any case, like car makers who also make 1 or 2 Formula 1 cars, the idea is not to sell thousands but to rise the *Brand* perceived value and boost sales for more popular models where real money is.
