  • Silvertone Tranny Question

A few years ago I bought a Silvertone amp chassis (seller said Silvertone: it had no markings). It was a rather large chassis with an SE (el-84) section and a PP section, again with el-84's. No tubes came with it but I could tell from the tube sockets. The pots were shot but they had very long shafts approx 4-5 inches. I bought it for the trannys and now I'm trying to figure out how to use them. I have a nice size PT marked C80-33-08 and 606949. When I removed it from the chassis I labeled the wires it powered a 5y3 (tube socket was labeled) rectifier as well as the tubes mentioned above. I'd like to use it for a PP amp with either 6V6's or 6L6's so it would be nice to know it's ratings. Anyone have any ideas on what I've got. Any info would be much appreciated...

If it was powering 3(?) EL84s, it can probably supply at least 150ma. So it ought to handle a pair of 6V6s easily, but 6L6s might be pushing it.

Hopefully one of the pros here will confirm...

Yeah, I figure if I can't find out any more about it I can a least use it for a 6V6 amp. That would be fine....
