    Of course, tubes will gradually lose their crispness over time. My Garnet Pro still has its two original Phillips 6ca7 power tubes. They are about 85% good. Not bad since they were made in 1967. The only tube I changed was the tremolo tube. I was lucky enough to get Gar himself overhaul my amp in 04, before he sadly passed away in 07. He etched his signature on the back of the chassis and offered to buy back his old jewel. Other than the tremolo tube, he changed a couple of small caps and a resistor that had gone out of spec. If you ever must change tubes, look for NOS (new old stock). They are WAY better than anything built today. Even used old tubes can sound better than the new crap.
