  • VOX Berkeley Super Reverb HELP!

Hey, I got one of these VOX Berkeley Super Reverb amps in earlier this week with lots of issues.
Someone a few years ago must have blown the PT and shoved some off the wall crap in it but they have also hosed up the on-off/standby switch and the two light bulb holders. (Man, I haven't seen so much electrical tape in an amp in years either!)
I got it up and running fine and I rewired the DPDT center off switch so it works right... BUT, they also tossed away the lamps ('cause they didn't know how to make the switch work I assume), and I can't remember what the heck the two #s are of bulbs in series are.
Does anyone remember?... none of my art work has the two bulb numbers (I'm pretty sure they were two separate #s so current would flow in one instead of the other when switched) and of course it won't work with #44, #47s etc etc.
The 6.3v line is center tapped and the bulbs come off one leg so there is only half that going to the pilot lamp sockets.... bummed and it's Friday almost.
Sure like to get this back to the guy for the weekend.

    Oh that is weird.

SO you start with 3.15v. In the standby position, the lower bulb is shorted across, so a 3v bulb would be the deal, seemingly. In the run position, another added in series. I would be looking for the lowest voltage bulbs you can find. Regardless of same or different, the two of them in series have to light up enough to be seen at a mere 3v. And the one of high enough voltage not to burn out when on its own at 3v.
Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.

Right, that is the way I think these worked. This one was a mess... I'm sure you've seen that kind of repair.... hootched wires all over the place, some not soldered but twisted with tape wraps... actually all the wires are tapped, no grommets... just poor repairs.
It does not light any #47 off one leg but I can measure voltages to the sockets and switching the ground in is obvious.
Man, I have actual VOX manuals and docs issued by VOX in the 60's and there is no mention of the darn bulb numbers.

      Thanks Enzo
