Sorry about all the photos but this is what I use. I lifted two legs of Q2 for the test. Click image for larger version

Looks good. So you could have identified transistor leads with your tester.

Measure ground continuity (mean below 1R) between the grounded ends of R9 and R17 clipping meter leads to component leads.

They both connected to ground. Time for a Dr appt.

Yes, but how good is continuity between leads (not measured from copper side).

Carefully check repaired area against the layout I posted and maybe do some resoldering.

I should just change out a lot of these resistors. The leads look very old and a little corroded, even though I’ve re-soldered the board a couple of times if not more.

Not sure (too much soldering might lift more traces) and no answer to my request.
Those carbon film resistors don't drift and some lead corrosion shouldn't be a problem with a good flux core solder.
What matters is measured resistance and connection continuity.

Right now we're only concerned with 2 or 3 resistors around the emitter follower.

Today a sun beam said hello to my dyna comp. I'm currently using this for bass. I like how it evens out my sounds and covers up my poor technique. I've used on guitar but only for clean(ish) stuff; think Under the Bridge by RHCP. I have yet to get a good sound with any kind of gain pedal. What is your favorite compressor and how do you use it?
