Maestro G-2 Echo issue

Maestro G-2. What blends the Echo/Repeat function to the audio signal? I'm not getting the repeats, but when engaged the audio becomes a bit louder and fuzzy, and I can hear clicking being generated. The clicking speed changes with the Echo/Repeat Speed knob, so the function must be being produced. Is it a transistor gone bad? I have included a schematic for the unit. It's hard for me to make out some of the schematic. I also find it difficult to follow the board itself, so tracing circuits is hard without a board diagram.

Q22 gates the audio signal, Q21 controls the gate from the multivibrator above. Try adjusting the 10K trimmer.
