  • I'm trying to install Kali Linux.
    https://distrowatch.com/?newsid=11474
I don't guess I'm smart enough to get through the Installer.
If anyone has installed it or want to help me figure it out, that would be good.
It runs great live, and has lots of neat software, if I could get it installed.
I will look next on youtube, and see if they know how to put it on a multi-boot system?
    Thanks,
    T
**I figured it out, and it wasn't worth the trouble.
    I've already scrapped it.

    • I've run Ubuntu Linux for my everyday use, for several years.
I just migrated the computers here for my wife and I, from Ubuntu, to Manjaro.
Much more stable, and less up keep.
I wish now, I had done it sooner.

      • Several linux distro's use sudo for root privileges.
If you stay in root a lot, it is easier to assign root a password.
        To set passwd for root,
        $ sudo passwd root
Then assign a passwd to root.
        See Screenshot
I use a short password, it complains as bad password, but will let you use it anyway.

        • Here are some examples of setting directory and file permissions, using command line in terminal.
I made the directory Testing, and made the files break, so I could use them to change the permissions.

          • Hello Linux Land!
Curious how many of our members still run linux?
My wife and I still use linux for the everyday use.
I mainly use Manjaro, or Debian, with a Gnome 40+ desktop.
I gave up on Ubuntu, they changed it too often.
            What do you like?

              • Running Linux mint for the past 8 years as my main computer. Probably longer. Of course I have windows for audio recording. I am going to experiment with a laptop to install Linux for audio recording. I will be sure to post about it. I love Linux!
