The 5-way switch version will allow for each individual pickup and the combinations of neck and middle or bridge and middle.

The 3-way switch with 2 volumes will allow for each individual pickup and the combinations of all three pickups. It's a little less convenient having to deal with the switches and the controls, but it does allow for the greatest number of tonal variations.

So the neck pickup works! Cold soldering joint is the only reason it wouldn't work at this point I would think? I'll probably try to rewire it the same way it's wired now. I'm going to tear it down!!
