The gauss meter doesn't check the pickups output level, it reads the gauss level of the magnet.
The A1302 sensor you recieved had a blue piece of tape on it, the number written on that tape is the number you would enter in calibration mode if you want your meter to read as closely to the professional ones that were used as comparison tools.

The Probe 2 is a second calibration setting for a different probe. Some of us are needing to measure magnets that are stronger than the current probe allows. Right now we are limited to 1700G but a different hall sensor will increase that by 10x or something like that.
Using a small neo magnet to degauss alnico magnets is one way to do this. I've also heard of people using tape head demagnetizers to accomplish the same thing.
