    Hi everyone,
    Anybody knows the specs of vintage Gretsch Hilotron single coil pickups?
    Like average resistance, Wire gauge, magnets(ceramic or alnico bar) number of turns Etc,?

    Just off the top of my head I can tell you that they are usually somewhere around half of a Filtertron as far as the DC resistance and turns. I believe they are also the same wire gauge as the Filtertron though I can't recall right now what that is. They are alnico magnets for sure. If you really need the info I can search and see what I have on them, but I'm sure some others know better than I do. They are weaker pickups that do the country and rockabilly thing really well.

      I have some specs I've gathered from somewhere. I don't know how accurate they are. This might be for their new pickups.

      They list the Hi-lo Tron as 3200 tuns for the neck, and 3600 turns for the bridge. This same list has the Filtertron as 3600 turns for the standard and 3000 turns for the vintage. The wire is listed 44AWG.

      A vintage Hi-Lo Tron was probably 3000 turns, since it was half a Filtertron.

        Here's the info I have on the Hi-Lo-Tron. I don't know if it is modern or vintage specs.

        Magnet Wire (-) 3.5 x 18 (mm) Urethane 3UEW 0.05

        Neck : 3200T 3.4 - 3.6 KΩ

        Bridge : 3600T 3.9 - 4.1 KΩ

        0514-4V Alnico Magnet

        Single coil, alnico magnet, fairly low output, very sweet sounding.

            Yeppers. I used to have some other specs around that TVJones had told me years ago, but I couldn't find it. That spread sheet is probably close enough though....

                I have a few big rolls of 44. I'm going to have to try and wind me some Filtertronesque pickups.
