  • Burstbuckers Pro: how much do they measure...?

For a friend of mine, I'd like to be able to identify these p'ups that are being sold as BB Pros.

They've been cleaned up, so no stickers or anything to ID'em; I just know they've been taken out of a Gibson Les Paul, most probably one of the many Studio models, but no specific.

    Can anybody help...?

    Much appreciated.

Yeah, it's been hot here too. I actually found your post by Googling "Burstbucker pro specs".

Got this off the Mojo Pickup Page for Gibson page.
          http://www.mojotone.com/Guitar-Parts...net-Nkl-Bridge
BurstBucker ProTM humbuckers are offered in a calibrated pair; the neck position (IM59A), and the bridge position (IM59B). Output of these pickups is similar to the standard BurstBuckerT #1 and #2 model. And BurstBucker ProTM pickups are wax potted so that they can withstand loud volume pressures without annoying feedback. The BurstBucker ProTM enhances the vintage "edge" of Gibson's popular

BurstBuckerTM pickups with the added feature of an Alnico 5 magnet

Approx. Ohms reading = 7.6k neck and 8.2k bridge

Mojo Pickups » Gibson BurstBucker #1 Pickup w/Alnico II Magnets Nickel
It lists all the gibson specs for each pickup.

          Item Number Unit Weight
          2112480 Each .89999998 lb

BurstBuckerTM pickups from Gibson Gear now give guitarists a choice of three replica sounds from Gibson's original "Patent Applied For" pickups - the pickups that give the '59 Les Paul Standard its legendary sound. The three BurstBuckers?- all with unpolished magnets and non-potted coils, like the originals - represent the variations found among vintage Gibson humbuckers.

          burstbuckerTM 1 Aprox Ohms reading = 7.8K on #1
(IM57A-NH) is slightly underwound, with medium "vintage" output, and works well in both bridge and neck positions.

          burstbuckerTM 2 Aprox Ohms reading = 8.2K on #2
(IM57B-NH) is wound in the range of Gibson's '57 Classic, with slightly hotter "vintage" output than the BurstBuckerT #1, and works well in the bridge position with a BurstBuckerT #1 in the neck position.

          burstbuckerTM 3 Approx Ohms reading = 8.7K on #3
(IM57C-NH) is slightly overwound, with hotter output, and works well in the bridge position with a BurstBuckerTM #2 in the neck position.

On a similar topic: Does anyone know the turn count of the BBs? They are supposed to be off set coils and I can pretty much guess how to accomplish a pickup that, but if anyone have the specs I would appreciate it.

FYI: I'm not out to clone the BBs. A customer have asked me to make a pickup that sounds "like a underwound BB1" and if as that isn't available from Gibson I have no shame in asking if anyone have the original specs...
