Shortening the path the flux from the vibrating string must traverse in free space is important.

Shortening the path the flux from the vibrating string must traverse in free space is important.

This could be part of the reason I'm trying to get all this machinery close to the strings while still minimizing string pull (I think Rick Turner also expressed this thought.)
