I'm right at the stage John H is in the post above with my next guitar, as I'm trying to learn how to make my own necks. I visited the PG forum while looking for ideas but it looked sorta dead to me.

There are plenty of action going on there, but mostly in the "in progress" section. however there is a huge amount of info and if you use the search function you will find almost all possible topics covered already. Or simply introduce yourself and ask a polite question if you don't find anything the thing you are looking for.

Asking guitar building related questions on Project Guitar is pretty safe even if you didn't search first (not like some forums). Most guys over there are pretty calm and ready to help.

Luv the SG, great work! is the neck "set" or through?
I've been wanting to do a neck-through SG build myself for a long time.
(unfortunately, no spare time 'round here)

The SG is called the Hand of Doom. It was a pain to build as it fought me every step of the way.
It is a deep tenon set neck. Not a true SG from a gibson standpoint more my interpretation of it. The build thread on Project Guitar is lost in the DB crash but i have a limited build thread here Guitar Logistics - Built to Spec - HandOfDoom
And if you get bored one day I keep a blog of everything I do in the guitar shop... minus a mistake or two. Feel free to read the posts. Finished guitars are on the right hand side. Guitar Logistics
I spend a lot of time on this site lurking and reading. I never have much to say here because you guys are so informative my questions get answered without asking.

I want to do a neck-through, set the neck back (toward the bridge) about 1.5" and make the body 1-3/4" thick.
Maybe even Floyd it.
Jason (Lollar) used to do a great SG. There is a guy on another forum goes by the name "SG-Lou" (IIRC) does some great SG's.
