Just because there is no quantifiable scientific data to verify a phenomenon does not necessarily negate its existence.

One the one hand, women can apparently hear subtle nuances within words of a sentence that allow them to accuse men of a plot so elaborate that not only did I not do it, but I couldn't have possibly conceived of such a thing.
By contrast, men's hearing is so poorly developed that when enduring a woman's converstation, all we can do is nod in feigned appreciation and wait until we see the lips stop moving so we can evoke an appropriate response such as "That's a wonderful story honey, now go make me a sandwich."

Topic posts such as this thread, in this forum, represent an easing into pathetic cries for attention in some shape or form. As Terry notes, there are forums where this type of post is much, much more appropriate and actually desirable. Problems is, those forums are full to overflowing with pathetic cries for attention and therefore many participants go mostly unnoticed and the need is not fulfilled. So, the solution for the unfulfilled need is to take it to a place where the room is less crowded with those crying out for attention. Here in this forum for example.

If this post offends some of the members. . . Good!

You see, now THERE is an expression that bodes well for peace on earth, commencing with intimate evenings on the weekend, that follow with a smile the next morning: "enduring a woman's conversation".

I was reminded of this particular cartoon - Far Side Cartoon : What we say to Dogs - Railroad Insurance Group - but with men in the role of dogs, women in the role of humans, and the words "sex" and "beer" substituting for "Ginger".

My initial post, if you missed it, was specifically about how our better halves, significant others, girlfriends, etc, of the female gender - perceive the aural results of our work on pickups differently than we do - be it for better, OR worse. And perhaps WHY they do so.

How it devolved into repeated sexist comments, when we are all adults (I think) - is beyond my comprehension.

I intended this to be a serious, though light-hearted discussion.

            As it should be.

I guess the punch line is that what gets heard can depend on who is doing the listening. And sometimes the characteristics of the listener that can matter are things you never automatically think of.

Don't listen to him. He's just looking for attention.

I wish my hearing was as distinct as my girlfriend, or daughter who can put me to shame on a mixing board.

Sorry for starting this sexist talk that seems to piss off some of you. I was trying to be fun but seems like we Finns have very, very different fun than some of you. I didn't (and I don't find anyone else) mean to be sexist at all. I find it sad if people are so uptight that no joking is allowed. I'll make sure that in the future no jokes will come from me. I rather keep arguing about something that has no meaning in real life of pickups.

Chill out... sexism is in the beliefs of the beholder.
As for Finnish women, there is only one name I needed to know... Armi wow!!!

I do not believe that the subject of hearing or color perception is sexist.
It was certainly not intended as such.
But if a woman was president, we would not have wars. This is because women are not as stupid as men.
Let's see you argue that one. hahahahhahahahahahah!

Well, we had woman as president for last twelve years. I have nothing to complain about the way she did her duties.

Easy to do with just 2 words:
                          *Margaret*
                          *Thatcher*

I know that a woman gave birth to me... So can I blame my Mum for not being able to hear as good and prone to violence as a way of social resolve? I have not been in a fight in years... Last time I fought was with my bro in a break from a jam session. It turned into an Oasis type affair where I grabbed an unstrung bass guitar and held the bass up high for fear that he would come in close for the brawl. Eventually, he grabbed the bass and I held on for my dear life! Bastard dragged me around in circles scrapping up my feet as I was only wearing Teva's. Time to get real shoes eh?

I think war is based on money... Currency printed or stamped with a man's or woman's face is to blame. I think there is a fair amount of currency around the world with both women and men printed/stamped on it.
When the going gets weird... The weird turn pro!

Well now that women are going to be taking a more active roll in combat missions it stands to reason that all men need to be on their best behavior. She's likely to be a better shot than you and she'll probably have no moment's hesitation in getting the job done right the first time around.

A few years back Time magazine did an essay comparing men & women. Aside from the "rotate 3-dimensional objects in your head" thing, they concluded that women were better at everything else, I think. Mentally, anyway. I don&t know if they&re "smarter," but I prefer their company because they generally make more sense to me, and they can talk about more than sports, boobies, and beer. Men are idiots, myself included. How's that for reverse sexism? A couple wome friends even talk gear with me! But that's my opinion, and everyone else's is probably different. Live & let live, right? My two cents...
