of course an 8 string would read higher than a 6 because the coils are longer, funny thing they did with the 8 string- use a 6 string bobbin, put an extra pole on each end and wind the coil right out into the air unsupported. Rickenbackers had some of the crappiest made parts and backwards methods of any manufacturer out there
