I went through my e-mail correspondence w. E. and realized that there was a misunderstanding regarding HFV which led to let me order HFV from the U.S. I'll have to dig into this again once run out of wire. But for sure PE is not available over E. Europe at this time.

Hi
You guys in the USA are lucky, if I need a 5lb roll of wire I have to pay a minimum 50 bucks shipping and then I get clobbered for another 30% on top of the whole deal by the Austrian customs guys. This goes for pretty much everything shipped from the states above 50 bucks value. It would be nice if a European supplier could be found or a European group buy organised.
Cheers

I've had problems with both types of spools getting a tangle somewhere near the end of the roll, especially large rolls. I tend to use the smaller ones because of that.Last edited by David Schwab; 03-29-2013, 06:25 PM.It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein

They ask you to return the spools, David? Do you have to put a deposit on them or get a credit if you do? I keep mine and use them when someone wants to buy some other type of wire from me. Not pickup wire, but 2/4 conductor or guitar/mic cable. Things like that.
I agree that both spool types have problems. The white 6" spools have problems when the wire gets near the end, probably because of the steeper break angle at the rim. The biconical ones - well we talked about that already. What about conical? I've never seen magnet wire on a conical spool, but the companies offer them. That might would work much better.

Hi Pepe
Thanks for the info. I`ll give them a go, but i'll bet 10euros that they won't supply under 20 rolls !

Hi Telemachos
I assume from your posts that you have had some experience dealing with Elektrisola You quoted on an earlier post that they don't do Heavy formvar. I got a roll recently from Remington which was elektrisola (standard label) Do you know what the minimum quantities Elektrisola will supply. The Swiss branch I contacted were not even interested to give me a quote. Maybe you have had more luck with the German branch. I'll try the Austrian branch this week as they are not far from where I work.
Cheers

What I was told (in the US) is that the minimum orders are by the case (so six 6lb spools per case / four 12lb spools per case). BUT... that is for individual orders. There are much greater annual minimums and they want proof up front that you can meet those minimum order requirements. What that proof is - I'm not yet sure. Not yet there with this research.
I have no idea what the terms are in other Countries, unfortunately, but I hope this is somewhat helpful.
Best,
James

Hi James
I think 4 12lbs spools would last me the rest of my life. I will get in touch with Elektrisola here in Vienna and see what they can come up with. I can occasionally get wire brought over by faithful customers. One was kind enough to bring me a 5lb roll, when I asked him about luggage allowance he told me he was travelling with his baby and had an extra full baggage allowance, nice !!
Cheers

I'm currently not in the position to purchase more spools but If you can't get through to the source then just shoot me a PM and I'll see what I can do for ya.
