    T
Yes, in place of soldering directly to the baseplate, like this:
    http://www.jeangodbout.com/lennon-le...ck-dog-ear.jpg

I prefer this as it was the way it was originally done & I'm a bit of a traditionalist (gasp) - but also for the functionality.

For P90s I keep the braided lead wire in place in test guitars. Using those solder lugs allows me to swap pickups in and out by only unsoldering/soldering the hookup wire to the lead and lug/tag - makes it a very fast procedure & there's no alligator clips, wire nuts or anything else.

It also makes it very easy to swap soapbar and dogear base plates to test in different guitars - because nothing's soldered to them.

I think if one were to put two A9s in a P-90 it would effectively lower the action of the guitar or pull the pickup up into the strings. Them's allot'a Oersteds!

I don't think that was contentious. That's how you learn and discover things. We all have to do it. We can't tell you what you like and what to do.

Just wind one pickup with each. if you want to do a stock standard P-90, just pick poly or PE and wind it to spec.

However, you might want to try something new, different wire gauges and amounts of turns, etc. In that case you have to experiment, wind coils, strip the wire off, wind more coils, and so on.

Isn't that the same thing Rick Turner was saying that you objected to?

Look David, I know he's your bud so I don't expect you to see the point, but No, not at all.

Here in this thraed there was a general no-effort thing going on as you well know, in the other thread I was asking Rick a specific, singular, and direct question, as he "seemed" to be posting as if he knew something on the subject. I should have known better, par-for-the-course, and all that, but live-n-learn I suppose.

David, when you are asked a direct, and specific question, you generally respond politely unless of course there is some extreme lameness going on in the thread (as is in this thread). The computer lessons (crap?) was a bit unsulting as I've dealt with more bytes than Rick will ever pass in the entire rest of his life, as I'm sure you recall.
              (or, maybe not)

Anyway I'd just-as-soon not get into a "thing" with ya about that other thread, if it's all the same to you.

I appreciate the man (Rick Turner) but I'll need to appreciate him w/o directly addressing him, probably best for all that way.

I meant to add these a while ago.
They are my own vacuum formed covers which fit the Gibson routs and those silly modern baseplates fit inside.

                    Thank you.
I had some help from Jonson as always.

                      Nice one Spence

I'll bet you make your own curries too.

                      Cheers

                            Great Book Spence

My sister gave me a copy before I moved to Austria (Minimal curry house region) My copy looks a bit more like the dish on the right. Just for your interest, the secret of the perfect onion bhaji is to put some fennel seeds in with the mix.
Long live the ceylon meat extra hot!!

                            Cheers

Ohhhhh… nice! I like to make my own, too.

Vacuum formed curries are what's up. Oh. …Wait. Huh?

Seriously, both look delicious! I'd enjoy a deep dish full of either.

                                Just now saw this thread.

You need the woodchipper - it is great for finishing guitar bodies and wooden pickup covers but is even better for dealing with angry customers or non-responsive suppliers.
