No. He does'nt post any threads for educational learning at all- He just backlashes all the other experienced winders for questioning the topic at hand and generally likes to undermind things to his advantage. You'll actually hear him say" Stop worring about wb, and make pickups....thanks for the free marketing- Stupid shit like that"
Staying with the topic though....Theres some great knowledge here and awsome builders/winders thant have tremendous first hand experience. Stick around!! You'll see.

Yeah, that's exactly what I was talking about. I lurked here a lot before finally joining. Never plan to do it for a living, it just seems an interesting little niche to apply to myself here at home. Sure are a lot of top-notch people here, and never saw a better place to get the low-down best info on the technical side. Thanx for being here "guys." (Is that a bad word here now...? lol).

Gee Wade, and I thought you never talked crap as you stated on the other forum. You have it all figuired out..

Kilo, learn as much as you can, take it all with a grain of salt. As for spending all day on a forum teaching the art of winding. Wades right. I don't post here as much as some. I work all day making pickups. Does not mean that I don't give advice as to winding? No, I do that quite often and do so by a phone call at times for some. As stated before, I respect others working hard at this and do not slam others as Wade would suggest. Have fun Kilo winding some pups. That's what it's all about. There is some top notch guys here..

          • Can this be the beginning of a new art. Pickupwire-aging? I know they aged Lance Armstrongs tires for about 7 years in a dry dark cellar. Wine, wood, whisky ...... big business. Not to be applied to women.

            • Vintage hookers - there's a thought (not to be confused with reliced hookers).

              • Even vintage hookers look tempting, and in fashion to poor old Sam these days.

Is there an ignore option in this site, other than the obvious, or do that and just plain ignore? (See above) I've seen all I need to know about this guy. Exactly as Wade posted. Top-notch guys, but take it with a grain of salt? You gotta be kiddin' me....
Sorry about the off-topic. But to get off-topic again, I sure like Spence's pic in his last post..... If that's what winding is all about, I'm on-board !!! lol

                              • The wire is Polysol!

I know of the wire you speak of. It is RED not blackish purple. I purchased a set of pups from the vendor you speak of and I tried to maintain contact with him and I got shined on? Beware of the guy the supposedly winds his pickups "By Hand" but sells hundreds of sets per month. Also, I am not sure if you guys that wind you own are aware of the issue of limited space on the bobbin when it comes to true "Hand Wind" scatterwinding patterns and a machine that lays the wire in nice even layers. I can usually only get a certain amount of winds using the proper technique for tone without overloading the bobbin. I noticed on the set I got the bobbins were only half full of wire. 43awg? I was suspicious and I attempted to wind to the same resistance and my bobbin exploded. So the point is if you don't know what "Hand Winding" is make sure the person that winds your pickups does. It means "I hold the wire with my fingers and guide it onto the bobbin manually". You can only get so much wire on a bobbin using hand scatterwinding. My neck pups at 8.85K are pretty much full? I don't usually wind over 12.5k at the bridge. Wire starts to stretch. When you wind them properly they sound properly balanced, smooth, sweet and complex. If you sit there wind like a machine you get a similar sound. You have to jam back and forth on the traverse guide bar to get the right rhythm for scatterwinding. I just purchased a lot of PE from MWS and Their PE is very nice. Is is easy to work with and sounds very warm and rich. If you want to try out my pups try my 50/50 vintage wind or my Hot Vintage PAF. I will put my pups up against anyones anytime.
I will wind them custom for you and take pictures during assembly if you want! I have all of the same parts used in the SD Antiquity pups. I use them in combination with other parts for an original PAF vibe. I also have real Hand Wound Single Coils with real flatwork bobbins I make myself. I use cloth wire, traditional flatwork bobbins and PE for my SC pups. They look and sound just like or usually better than the originals in my opinion.

                                Regards,
                                P
