wire...
Actually I have one of those, they were called "Laid Back" pickups with the clear bobbins, they were trying to make P90s popular again in the 70s but players wanted nothing to do with them mostly, its some kind of poly wire very reddish looking, nice wire really....http://www.SDpickups.com

I had two P-90's from a 70's SG that someone had given me when they replaced them with humbuckers. They were also the clear bobbins, wound to about 9K. Dave is right, most players hated p-90's back in the 70's.
I had an old ES-330TD with chrome dogears. They were wound about 8K.. sounded like big Strat pickups. Real nice in the neck position. The pickups also didn't have baseplates... they just sat under the cover. It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein

The clear bobbins used to get brittle and crack like that.It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein
