    Pickup patent list is SORTABLE

The pickupedia patents table is sortable by data field.

    http://www.pickupedia.info/index.php/Patents

It certainly does show who has been industrious,
like Lace, and Stich AKA Bill Lawrence.

        Short URLs enabled

I've just made the changes necessary to allow pages to be accessed like this:

        http://www.pickupedia.info/Patents

        instead of this:

        http://www.pickupedia.info/index.php/Patents
        -tb

This is a great way to start off the new year!
It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein

Even with the QT plugins in IE, the USPTO image downloads are a POS. Google or pat2pdf are much clearer to read, though I haven't found a good way to pass a known patent number to either site in the wiki. Might it make sense to download the pdf files and upload to tboy's image hosting area, and link to there frmo the wiki? Pat2pdf does permit multiple downloads, and it'd be easy enough to extract the patent numbers from the table.

By editing the QT files config, I got QuickTime to handle USPTO .tiff images
              under Firefox and Opera 9.25
Google looks no better, no worse than the USPTO.

The google search link won't go directly to the patent but to a link.

For instance, for the Charlie Christian pickup patent, the search string
              patent:2087106 generates this URL:

Then, you click on the link it provides and arrive at the patent document.

I don't know if it is legal to republish USPTO patent PDF files.
Even though the patents are already paid for with public monies, the copy
distribution may have may have bullshit encumberances.

Patents are by law public domain. Pat2pdf expresses no added restrictions. Such things cannot be hidden and be legally effective. So, we are home free.

It is OK to republish patents. See how this popular metal detecting site has republished metal detecting patents hosted on his own web site (below).
You should be able to do the same thing for pickup patents.

                  http://geotech.thunting.com/cgi-bin/...le=patents.dat

It should be much easier if the Music Electronics Form users could be able to download the pdf files directly rather than try to wrestle with all the tricks needed to obtain these same files for free.

One added feature to add to a list of patents is a column which indicates comments made about specific patents by the experts. This feature would be most helpful and cut through the "patentese" language which obscures what the essence of any particular patent actually is.

Maybe you could even provide instructions about how to effectivly read patents to extract key information. This would be most helpful. I did all my early research the hard way, in the patent library in Philadelphia PA, looking through stacks of paper.

I certainly hope so. In a country that has seen profound erosion of rights in the
last 8 years, I do not doubt that there will be an eventual technicality invoked to
                    limit patent distribution.

Now all we need to do is figure out where to upload the patent PDF's.

Using TBoy's image hosting site, I uploaded the Butts patent's pdf to a personal folder I created and linked to it in the pup patent page (AKA ppp):
                      http://pickupedia.info/Patents

I couldn't figure out how to create an open photo album there, as with the guitar amp section, it may be an admin function to do so.

I've created the "Pickup Patents" user and eponymous folder
                        whose passwords are pickuppatents.

Anyone may store files there after logging in at www.ampix.org

Now is a good time to think of throwing a little money at Tboy via PayPal,
perhaps a "yuppie food stamp" ($20).

Does this link go directly to the patent?

                          http://www.google.com/patents?id=e7h...patent:2087106

I notice it has a session ID embedded in it, but it might work for everyone anyway.

Or it might not, if the session ID is there because Google don't want you to be able to see patents without seeing ads first, which is quite possible.
"Enzo, I see that you replied parasitic oscillations. Is that a hypothesis? Or is that your amazing metal band I should check out?"

Link works for me, now, but once cleared from Google's cache, perhaps not.

DrS, if I were to want to help keep TBoy out of the poorhouse, just how would I go about doing that? I remember a sticky on the old site, but don't see it here.

Hmmm. It appears that Tboy has a scam ^H^H^H^H arrangement
where eBay transactions beginning at Firebottle/Ampage automagically donate
a small percentage to the upkeep of these sites.

...but if we decide to proactively donate, the link is still
                              http://www.firebottle.com/ampage/poorhouse.html

which eventually takes you to the PayPal account of tboy's PoorHouse Fund

This is the link you get when you call up a patent. I pated this from Safari to Firefox and it downloaded the PDF (not sure why Firefox doesn't use the Acrobat plugin?)
