This is the link you get when you call up a patent.
It works if you request the patent number first from their foo.pl page.

The PDF file is eventually erased from the pat2pdf.org servers.

That's why the Pickupedia patent table uses the USPTO link --
they always serve up the patent.

The idea of sharing the password made me a little uneasy, so I put in a category for pickups with a patents album that any registered user should be able to upload to.

I forgot I was going to mention that the wiki does have it's own file upload capability, and we also have the Gallery installation at music-electronics-gallery.com which might be useful.

Thanks. It wouldn't accept PDF files yesterday, but now it does.

Any chance I could do a bulk transfer using sftp around 1pm EST?
Uploading 150 patents one at a time is a big chore.

That's interesting... because I'm still able to pull up that link and view the file.

How long does it last before it's erased?

Shouldn't be a big deal to host the PDF's as they are fairly small.

Why SFTP? Is there a need to do a secure transfer?

I FTP all my files when I do web sites. I build the site on my computer's hard drive, and FTP the whole thing, folders and files, in one shot.

All you need to do is upload the bunch and then link to them.

I uploaded another image directly to the wiki - the file naming convention is a bit inconsistent, so mass uploading/mass updating of the patent files doesn't look all that practical. I'm cool with mass copying/editing/reloading the wiki markup for the patents, cutting and pasting them individually doesn't make much sense.

The URLs associated with ampix uploads are more consistent when loaded to the same gallery:
                http://www.ampix.org/albums/userpics...pat2455046.pdf
                http://www.ampix.org/albums/userpics...pat2557754.pdf

so mass editing the wiki would be a breeze.

I'm too dumb to figure out how to get to the Gallery area (if it exists), I see just my personal (empty) gallery.

I'm happy to take a portion of the wiki patent list and upload the pdfs, anyone else interested in divvying up the list?

I just sent an email with ftp login info. Once the files are uploaded I'll try a bulk import.

Rather than download all the pdf's from pat2pdf, I used the ampix upload from URL function - fetched all the outstanding patents, uploaded a handful. Update notes here:

Great idea, Dave (sez me between forehead slaps)! I approved all your uploads, and fixed it so you no longer need approval.

Thanks, tboy - I've got jsut about everything uploaded and the markup modified - a couple still link to the uspto because the pdf files are too big, are noted as such in the table

I bumped the max upload size up to 3mb, Dave. Will that do it, or should I make it bigger?

                              5932824 is almost 4MB - it's a for a sustainer.
