Methods to reducing humming ?

Now my pickup is complete and is working great. Previously i dicussed my problem in these two threads.

I copied Gibson p90. Well I am using it temporary on a acoustic guitar(working great). I have connected it directly to jack and to the amp. No metal base plate. So how to reduce humming sound. Because overdrive/distortion are not clear.

I can mod the bridge of acoustic guitar to steel one. So I am using only one pickup( this one.). So any suggestion how to remove humming. Also please explain me the wiring.

Grounding the strings will help but the 60 cycle hum is one of the things a p90 does well.

I just want clear distortion. And will shielding helps ?

P90s are the noisiest single coils, they hummmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Let's all say it together, the reason they hum? THEY DON'T KNOW THE WORDS.

How about shielding the coil with copper or aluminum foill, remembering not to make a complete loop by leaving a gap betwen the ends, of course?
