  • Separating glued poles from bobbins

I have a Fender style pickup and need to flip the magnets to reverse the polarity.

Are there any tricks to this? I'd rather not screw up the flatwork.

Why don't you just reverse the polarity of the magnets?

    Much easier to do.

I figured that would be easier, but I've never done it and didn't want to damage the magnets.

Don't worry, you won't damage anything.

If you can, mesure the magnets "strength" with a gauss meter before and after the change, you will find more or less the same result, exept a pole inversion of course.

And, remember, you can always control the gauss level if you find any difference.

I don't have any magnet stuff, other than a few magnets and a compass.

I'll find a link or something about how to reverse polarity and try it with an extra magnet. Thanks.

Just get some strong rare earth magnets or similar. Almost at the bottom of this page:
            http://www.stewmac.com/freeinfo/Elec...ng/i-5967.html
you will find info on magnetizing pickups. Use that as a guide and just reverse the polarity

              Thanks Peter. Looks simple enough.
