I just received the sample of black flatback paper from Decker Tape product #250 1/4" width ...

I first looksy, i don't really care for it. And the reasons are listed below:

    1. The black dye (or paint or whatever is used) that colors the paper is thin and is not consistant and you can see areas where the white paper shows through.

    2. It has white adhesive (you can probably get them to make it with black adhesive) probably at an extra cost.

    3. The paper is thick and is not as conformable as some flatback tape that I have seen and i currently use.

    4. The tape really stinks/smells probably from the adhesive.

All and all, I think Allparts and stew-mac paper tapes are much better in terms of conformability, looks, and stickability (if that is a word).

Thanky KevinT for report on Decker tape. All spec seemed right and sales guy must have just said anything I wanted. He said it was black paper and black adhesive, and paper was coated with slightly glossy sealer just like old 3M tape. Oh well!

The tape is black but there are areas that are washed out and you can see either the virgin paper or it is the white adhesive...whatever it is it is see through. The tape is not solid black.

The finish on the paper isn't really shiny at all. It has a satin sheen. Stew mac and Allpart's tapes have more of a shine than this example.

I received similar samples like this one from other tape companies when I was on my quest to find the perfect flatback tape.
