Stupid question: where is this pickup spec library? Is it here on the MEF somewhere, or on your own site?

It is on my laptop.
Just trying to compile a lot of the stuff that has gone through here.
So when guys want data I can give it to them.
I should have done this years ago.

If anyone has a 7 string guitar bobbin they can measure I would appreciate it.
LxWxHxFD
I also did some guessing on a Ric bass bobbin.
I came up with 2.85x.26x.185x.93
Don't know if that is correct or not.
Not sure if bridge and neck bobbins are the same either?
Tnx,

I ran across this Vast Pickup data spreadsheet, while I was looking for various bobbin data.
Don't know how long it will be on the web, you may want to download it.
You will need a program that will view a .xls office document.
Also You need to reduce the size, it pops up rather large.

Looking for pickup parts for a EB-0, or EB-3 Gibson Bass.
The Pickup is known as the Mudbucker.
The main item is the cover.
If I had a cover, I could probably make the rest.
I would also be interested in bobbins, keeper bar, and screws, but could make it with just the cover.
Thanks in advance.

I just ordered the Artec Mudbucker.
I will disect and show some gut shots when it arrives.
It should be fun to play with in my test bass.

Sidewinders anyone?
Any Sidewinder builders on here?
I've beat on the them quite a bit the last couple of years.
On a mudbucker, the magnets are on the end.
with blades in the bobbins, that touch the keeper and poles screws in the middle?
http://www.lindersson.se/images/bas/...kers_front.jpg
The picture is of 3 different sidewinders.
The pickup in the middle is a vintage gibson, and the pickup on the right is the Artec.
It seems to be a ineffecient design, and makes a very wide aperture.
The magnets turned up on the ends, turn out to be like blades, and ends up with sensing the string in 3 places.
The screws are usually north in the middle, and the turned up blades are south up on the ends (doesn't matter as long as polarity matches
2nd pickup).
IMO this is part of the reason for the mud.
The Artec has 4 magnets, 2 up and 2 down, on the ends.
I'm going to "what if", and experiment with a few things.
If the small magnets on top at the end were removed, leaving the two at the bottom.
Then maybe putting a bar magnet under the poles in the center.
These are things I want to try, when I get the pickup.
Along with rewinding the pickup with 41 SPN wire.
The goal is to have a mudbucker that is less muddy, but with good mids.
30k of 42 seems overboard for a pickup mounted all the way up to the neck.
Hopefully I can come up with a good usable compromise.
Any ideas or thoughts?

So what is the going rate of pay for rewinds these days?
I am supposed to get a 60s P bass set, and a 60s, or 70s Neck Tele pickup, tomorrow.
I suppose the P set will be 42HFV, and the tele neck will be 43 PE?

$50-$60 each. Covered HB's a bit more for the first bobbin, then less for the other if it needs it.
Real old stuff or odd stuff can be much more.
The 60s P bass set may be HF or PE and the neck bobbins are a bit harder to strip if you're cutting the coils off with an Xacto knife.
70's Tele neck "should" be 43 PE. Re-pot it with the cover on.

I priced in that range, and I said one price for modern wire and +$5 for formvar or PE, per pickup.
It is for a local shop.
I've always recharged the magnets, not sure what rewind magnet charging etiquette is?
If most guys leave as is, or if the gauss is low, recharge?
Thanks,
