  • My first pickup is complete.

BTW I didn't realize that I had signed up on this site 4 years ago. Well I'm started to get into pickup winding and was looking for some information. This site came up.

    Here's my DIY winder.

I made a lot of mistakes like ordering the wrong parts and that's how I came up with the name. It's 8.87 a little hotter than what I was going after. I wanted 8.78 after Seymour Duncan Whole Lotta Pickups. I have an A5 short magnet in there. I also guestimated on the winds as my counter wasn't working at the time. I looked at other pickup threads and gauged the wind location on the bobbin.

Here is my opto circuit that I'm working on. I just have to make my PCB then it will be finished.

Great sound on the "Whole Lotta Love" riff ... which I guess is what you were aiming for. Nice

I doubt you would even hear the difference between those two readings. Plus, if you stretched the wire a little it will read higher. So resistance readings are not that precise.

When I'm doing rewinds I also weigh the bobbin to get an idea how much wire is on it (grams ÷ ohms, after zeroing out for the empty bobbin weight)

            Congratulations on your first pickup!
It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein

I finished my opto circuit so I can get a better wind count.
