BTW I didn't realize that I had signed up on this site 4 years ago. Well I'm started to get into pickup winding and was looking for some information. This site came up.

Here's my DIY winder.

My first bobbin wind


Here's my the final product. I call it the Blackeye!



I made a lot of mistakes like ordering the wrong parts and that's how I came up with the name. It's 8.87 a little hotter than what I was going after. I wanted 8.78 after Seymour Duncan Whole Lotta Pickups. I have an A5 short magnet in there. I also guestimated on the winds as my counter wasn't working at the time. I looked at other pickup threads and gauged the wind location on the bobbin.

I doubt you would even hear the difference between those two readings. Plus, if you stretched the wire a little it will read higher. So resistance readings are not that precise.

When I'm doing rewinds I also weigh the bobbin to get an idea how much wire is on it (grams ÷ ohms, after zeroing out for the empty bobbin weight)
