i think there is one on duncan amp tools. i downloaded it but havent tried to use it, as i havent made a probe to attach. when i do make a probe, i will make sure to put a cap on the hot side, to ensure that accidentally probing something with dc on it

I've been wanting to build a signal generator from an old casio mini keyboard

the flute setting is a pure sine wave

ted weber sells small transformer (less than $5) for making a line out you can plug into the headphone jack

the volume control will give you amplitude

and you have your choice of frequencies

Attached is a 1kHz sine wave mp3. It's about 10 seconds long so use your computer/mp3 player's loop function for testing.

Hmmmm. my last post disappeared....anyways, i don't know what kind of A/C voltages to look for at the various points. I can tell you what i checked so far with the master all the way up

            speaker out: 7VAC
            EL34 grid: 75VAC
            Master vol out: 2.5VAC
            tone stack in:47VAC

            any clues there?

Well, 75VAC at the grid should be enough to drive the power tubes pretty hard. But 7VAC across an 8 ohm speaker load is only about 6 watts. So something doesn't add up there.
"Enzo, I see that you replied parasitic oscillations. Is that a hypothesis? Or is that your amazing metal band I should check out?"

I have one, but I'm not sure how to post it for downloading. If you'll email me, I'll send it to you.

                  http://zeitnitz.de/Christian/Scope/Scope_en.html

pc based dual trace osciloscope AND a stereo programable signal generator with sine square and triangle outputs

I forgot all about this program
My son uses it to "super tune" his guitar

has a lot of nice features on it

I just downloaded it onto this computer and it seems to work with VISTA

Has you son checked out G-tune? It's shareware, but well worth the nag screen - especially for intonating.
