Just picked up a PV Ultra 120 for $100 off Clist, he spelled it Peavy so many may have not found it, and I probably could have talked him down. He told me straight faced that it was "good for country" and his brother had left it in the (PDX) basement for a decade. I though he was kidding, but on firing it up at home I realized the origin of the "country" comment. The head sounded AOK on clean but like a sonic abortion on Crunch/Ultra, his "still has the tubes it came with" comment came back to me.
A couple NOS GE 12AX7a's installed and it kills; the 4 x 6L6 are apparently AOK too
BUT the footswitch from my Ultra 212 leaves it in "Clean" on all the time (LED ON) even though I can get Crunch/Ultra with the FS removed...odd as I thought w/out the FS you couldn't get Crunch....
Must be a bad relay? Its a mess outside but pristine internally made April 4th 1991.
Might but it into a Mahogany Radio Cab I got a while back, will post the finished project.
