  • Acoustic/Electric Guitar Output

I'm wondering what the signal output of an acoustic guitar with a built in pickup/pre-amp typically is in terms of impedance. Reason I'm asking is I'm wondering how best to plug into a PA system with it - direct into the PA or through a direct box which converts a high impedance instrument signal into a low impedance signal for input to a PA?

    Thanks,

    Greg

You did not specify the circuit.
Generally, an active preamp output will be a low impedance.

It's the B-Band A3T circuit found in Simon and Patrick (one of the Godin brands) guitars. I thought the output would probably be low impedance but wanted to be sure.

        Jazz P Bass is right.

Correctly designed (professionally designed – always) pickup preamp has very
low output impedance and may be connected to input with any impedance.

The issue is only sensitivity of the input.
