  • ART Tube MP preamp parts source needed

I have an ART Tube MP tube preamp here with a problem.

The Input and Output gain pots are both broken loose from the control circuit board. The pot leads are broken off of the pot bodies and the pot leads are still soldered to the circuit board.

These are light green square shape pots, PC mount about 5/16" a side, with a threaded mounting bushing.

Unfortunately, the only markings on these pots are the value - one is 10K and the other is 100K.

Is there anyone here who services ART products and can tell me where I can get these parts?

    Thank you,
    ken

There are some in the bournes catalog. You probably have to special order them.
Posting a picture might help for suggestions. But this type is rare to find in stock.
    Check types 51 / 53:

And did we contact ART and ask if they could provide the exact parts?

I tried... I was caught in the 'are you a service center?' endless loop. I used to be, I was a Yorkville authorized service center once.

O/k, have you tried contacting a dealer or a service center?
You would think either one would be of help.

I live in WI... I was the only service center within 150 miles in any direction.

I'll try again there Monday, right now I'm prowling the catalogs. Parts have to come from somewhere.

Did you call them on the phone? Or was this dealer thing online?

If you can get a human on the phone, then they can ask dealer or not dealer and you can tell them. But it also should provide the opportunity to ask if you can order parts.

If you used to be an ART service center, then claim to be one, and when it comes down to brass tacks, tell them, "I'm not sure if my account status is still active. Can you still sell me parts?"

And always use terms like customer. "I need level controls for a customer's model..." And the royal "we" is good, "A customer has presented to us a model XYZ for repair..."

I'll ask lightning Joe if he is an ART dealer. Maybe he will get the parts, he's cool.

I know the goal is to fix the unit, but if the parts & shipping are anywhere near $30, just buy a brand new one. They are about that brand new.
also, be carefull of the grey ribbon cable that connects the control board to the main board. too much movement of that cable will certainly cause you greif.
use caution taking the cover off, and putting it back on.

You do know you can buy these whole units brand new from Musicians Friend for $28 no tax and free shipping all day long? I have a couple myself.

I third the "buy another" notion. Then experiment with the other one. I need to buy another, mainly for the power supply...
