  • Convert boss pedal ac to dc

Does anyone have a schematic to a boss ge7. I would like to see if I could convert it from ac to dc.

Not sure what you mean. As far as I know, the GE-7 Boss EQ pedal runs on a 9v battery or a 9v DC adaptor.

WHat exactly are you trying to do to it?

Google "boss ge-7 schematic" and the schematic image pops right up.

Naw my pedal is an old one from Japan. They were AC. I want to try to convert it to DC

ANy chance you have a schematic link?

If it ran off the 120vAC, then they didn;t have to worry about keeping power drain low, so that may be a factor.

The old Boss GE-10 was ac mains powered.
From the schematic it runs on + and - 13v .
As it is a split rail supply the easiest I could suggest is 2 x 9v batteries but

          1. They may not last very long
they didn;t have to worry about keeping power drain low (Enzo)
2.Running on a low supply may make the noise floor too high.

This one runs on a single 9v battery like all of the rest but I would like it to go on my pedal board supply.(9vdc) it has a sticker by the ac jack that says boss psa adapter.

            It is a GE-7 not a 10

then it IS DC 9V jack
              not AC

I think you may be confusing things.
Boss uses regulated 9Vdc power supplies with a 5.5mm x 2.1mm barrel with center pin being negative.
What does the sticker on the pedal say.
                Exactly.
                Indicate the polarity symbol.

Nope, same physical jack but these old ones have a PSA adapter that is AC. I sent in my old SD-1 to Roland and they did the conversion for me, I did not want to wait to send this one in as I'm sure it is pretty simple to do. (With a bit of help

Yes yes yes, but if you have a boss pedal from the 80's it was probably made in Japan and uses a boss PSA adapter.

I think in the 90's they moved production to Taiwan and then started the DC stuff.

                        I am at a loss.
The Boss PSA adapter is a 120Vac to 9 Vdc adapter.

Oh crap I meant ACA power supply (pedal is not in my hand) sorry for the confusion. This is indeed an AC supply

If it is, indeed, made to take AC, but can also run off a battery, one need only connect the adaptor jack to where the circuit draws power from the battery.

If, for some reason, it ONLY runs on the AC adaptor, and doesn't run off a battery, then one would need still need to somehow bypass the rectifier circuitry that takes the AC providedby the adaptor and converts it to a suitable DC voltage.

haviong said all of that, however, you should probably read this before making any moves or changes: ?????????????

I guess that makes sense! The adapter should have some regulation in it as well. Thanks for the link .
